Rogue Tap is an 2D ARPG in a roguelike package. The player crawls through procedurally generated dungeons in the recognizable roguelike mechanic. However, battles require real-time player action to survive.

Classes

You can tackle Rogue Tap as the Fanatic, the Aged, or the Gambler. Each character has unique start conditions and abilities.

Class Select Menu You can select your starting class. However, future party members may be any class.

Fanatic

The Fanatic is searching for a cure to his daughter's illness. His prayers have gone unanswered but his faith remains unbroken. Possibly the gods need a stronger show of devotion before they can be moved to help Azalea. This is no problem for the Fanatic: his devotion is without limit.

Dominant Attribute: Defense

Benefits:

  1. Starts with armor equipped
  2. Makes a last stand in the face of death
  3. Needs almost no food (feeds off his faith)

Aged

The Aged accidentally wandered into the dungeon while looking for his magical, three-horned pet goat Moby. After finding the chewed stub of Moby's collar in his yard, the Aged started a frantic search. Did the goat wander into the dungeon? Or is Moby back home already waiting for his nightly back scratching?

Dominant Attribute: Intelligence

Benefits:

  1. Starts with a mysterious amulet
  2. Sees farther in the dungeon
  3. Can dodge twice

Find Others on the Way

It is possible to find other party members inside the dungeon. These party members can by any of the available classes. Selecting your starting class only determines that of your initial party member.

Active Encounters

Enemy encounters appear as a single unit on the dungeon map. Once the enemy detects the player, they will give chase. If the player collides with the enemy, an active encounter begins.

Active Encounter A Fanatic is near death while fighting off a myriad of dungeon enemies.

No Turns Here

Enemy encounters happen in a real-time battle mode. The player can move around the battlefield and get the best position to use their skills.

Players can dodge enemy attacks, if they are fast enough.

Skills

Each class has a unique set of skills. Each character can have two skill equipped. Only equipped skills are available during enemy encounters.

Once unlocked, skills are not restricted by class. A Gambler can use skills made available by a Fanatic. However, the Gambler will not be as effective using those skills because his primary statistic is different.

Skill Unlock Menu Skills become available based on the classes of the party members, their level, and the amount of gold the party has.

Melee Attack Icon

The Fanatic focuses his rage. While the Revenge skill is active, the Fanatic will immediately counterattack any time he takes damage. This skill is very powerful when receiving a series or weaker attacks.

Martyr Icon

Martyr

A Fanatic does not shy away from suffering. While the Martyr skill is active, any damage the Fanatic takes is converted into healing for the party. The amount healed is based on the amount of damage and the skill of the Fanatic.

Equalize Icon

Before the eyes of the Fanatic's god, all are equal. When activated, the Equalize skill reduces the health of all enemies to that of the weakest enemy. This skill is especially powerful after an enemy has been damaged.

Dungeons

Dungeons are procedurally generated. Each floor builds up to a boss encounter.

First Dungeon Floor Every dungeon floor will be a unique challenge.

How deep can you survive?

Each floor builds up to a boss encounter. The boss' power increases over time. Defeating the boss' minions reduces his power. Once you encounter the boss, he will be much tougher if his power is not kept in check.
